Nineteen countries participated in the 3rd Conference of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, where 77 papers were presented, including 5 papers on FONTAGRO projects.

(Uruguay, October 6, 2017) Lead researchers of FONTAGRO projects presented 5 of the 77 papers at the 3rd Conference on Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Animal Agriculture Production Systems of Latin America (GALA 2017).
The conference was organized by Uruguay’s National Agricultural Research Institute (INIA). This year it was led by Dr. Verónica Ciganda, leader of the FONTAGRO project called Climate Change and Livestock Production. 120 researchers from 19 countries attended the conference.
Dr. Hugo Li Pun, Executive Secretary of FONTAGRO, presented results of Latin American GHG projects. INIA Chile’s Dr. Marta Alfaro presented results of the Pastures and GHG project; Dr. Jessica Hassan of IDIAP’s Panama presented results of a dual-purpose cattle production and GHG emissions in Central America; and Mr. Garzón of Universidad Nacional de Colombia presented results on Colombia’s livestock production emissions. Lastly, Dr. Verónica Ciganda presented results of a GHG emissions in grass-fed animal production systems in Uruguay.
